Internet Movie Archives. The Internet Archive is collaborating with Prelinger Archives to digitize and put online almost
1,000 movies about everyday life, culture, industry, and institutions in the United States in the
20th century. All digital films are available in two formats: MPEG-2 (files ending as .mpg) or MPEG-4 (files ending as .avi). Both formats can be viewed with Windows Media Player, as long as you have the correct software / hardware installed in your computer.
To play an MPEG-4 movies, install the DivX codec from DivX Digest.
To play an MPEG-2 movies, install Elecard's MPEG-2 codec. However most new computers already have MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 codecs pre-installed, because if you can watch DVD movies with your computer, then you can view MPEG-2 archived movies.
